A little about me..

Hello and welcome to my blog. My name is Lisa Marie and I am a cancer survivor. I started this blog to hopefully provide some insight into my own personal experience with cancer and help others struggling through their own diagnosis, treatment or recovery.

I am a mom of 3 little munchkins, a wife to the most patient and loving man, and a lawyer. I spent the last 8 years blissfully raising my babies. During the COVID pandemic, I was diagnosed with a Grade III anaplastic meningioma the size of a grapefruit. My life catapulted into the world of, gasp, C A N C E R - surgery, treatments, difficult recoveries, physical therapy, horrendous medications that my body needed, and I hated, and endless follow up scans that still put my life on hold each time. And I had to do it all alone because of COVID.

While I suffered a lot, I am thriving because my support system was like nothing I'd ever seen, and so much more than I could have hoped for. I often got emotional, saying, I don't deserve this kind of love, how can I repay it? How do I pay it forward? How do I turn my tragedy into something positive? My husband, the eternal optimist, assured me that I was going to find a way to turn my tragedy into something good - and help people in some way. I began to think about how I was going to do that. As I mentioned before, I am a lawyer, and I love to write, so I started writing and it took on a life of its own. Even though it's so far out of my comfort zone to be so vulnerable to complete strangers, I decided that this blog would be one of the ways I pay it forward.
